Einstein: His Life and Universe

Author: Walter Isaacson
Genre: Biography

An impressive memoir of the genius by Walter Isaacson. The author has outlined in detail, the events that shaped Einstein. He has tried to show the things made Einstein who he was and what made him come up with such revolutionary theories. The books touches upon not only his career as a scientist but describes Einstein as a human; his relationship with his family and friends. The book is in no way meant to glorify the man but to show that after all his success, he was very much a human being.

Overall, I found the book quite thorough. The events written in the book are supported by reliable references. Being written several decades after Einstein’s death doesn’t seem to be an excuse for any compromise on the details or truth written in it. The thing I personally liked most is that the author has tried to outline Einstein’s complex theories and the ways in which he formulated them in terms understandable to a common man.

I would recommend this book to every scientific individual and to anyone curious to know about Einstein in general.
